The Kaltara Government has been implementing low-carbon development for the past year. The REDD+ Working Group, responsible for climate crisis mitigation and adaptation, was officially formed in 2023 through Governor's Decree No. 18844/k.118/2023. This formation reflects the provincial government's seriousness in applying Presidential Regulation No. 98 of 2021 on Carbon Economic Value Implementation.

Establishing the REDD+ Working Group is expected to accelerate emission reduction targets for Bumi Banuanta. Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN), through the Green Development Jurisdictional Agreement strategy, supports the low-carbon development program in Kaltara with relevant stakeholders. This declaration ensures full support for climate crisis management in Kaltara.
