This sub-strategy attempts to support 500,000 hectares of Sangkulirang-Mangkalihat karst landscape protection located in Berau Regency and East Kutai Regency. This karst ecosystem has been acknowledged as an important area through the establishment of Karst Landscape Area (Kawasan Bentang Alam Karst or KBAK) status by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources East Kutai. At present, the establishment of KBAK status for the Berau Regency Area is in progress.
